Ulster County’s newest eatery would make Henry Hudson
proud. The Dutch Ale House located at
255 Main Street in the heart of Saugerties is the
brainchild of owner Richard Michaels. Mr. Michaels, a
Saugerties native, has come home to roost.
Rich, a former brewer at Big River Brewing Company at Disney
World forfive years, envisioned owning
a cozy establishment with a variety of beverages and
hearty pub fare. The Dutch Ale House entices
customers with its warm earth tones and antique bar to
hang up their coats and stay awhile.
Starters include familiar items, such as Mozzarella
sticks and yummy fries, but the soups are homemade
and delicious. Rich’s wife Stacey has created a
bountiful array which include soup standards of chili,
French onion, tomato bisque and chicken noodle.
Special creations include: Butternut Squash, Roasted
Garlic Potato Bacon, Roasted Red Pepper and Sweet
Potato Bisque. Of course with soup, a salad or hot
sandwiches are available. Try a French Dip or Pulled
Pork sandwich or opt for a large USDA tasty beef
burger. The Dutch Ale House has standard in house
burgers or a variety of toppings are available to
build your own burger feast.
